I qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 2011 from Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh. Since graduation I then worked within local authorities providing assessments for adults with varying physical and mental health needs. I have also trained home care workers in the re-ablement care approach. In 2017, I moved into the field of stroke rehabilitation within the NHS.
I hold current memberships with;
- The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- The Case Management Society UK (CMS UK)
- British Association of Brain Injury and Complex Case Managers (BABICM)
- the UK Register of Expert Witnesses
- 3HUB Case Management Community
I have a special interest in supporting individuals who have sustained a brain injury either through trauma or stroke. I have supported people who have gone through this experience in both my statutory services and private sector roles. I am particularly passionate about ensuring everyone has access to the support they need, without having sit on a waiting list.
I have also developed a keen interest in Functional Neurological Disorders (FND), a field that is both fascinating and complex. Having worked with numerous clients affected by FND, I am continually intrigued by the unique ways in which these disorders manifest, as well as the challenges they present in diagnosis and treatment. Despite being not fully understood, FND is an area where research is rapidly advancing, and I am eager to contribute to and learn from this growing body of knowledge. My goal is to deepen my understanding of FND to better support my clients in achieving their best possible outcomes.
